Today we talkin’ Books!

CLASS Bookstore has become one of Houston's most important spaces for conversation, curiosity, and community. But long before the shelves were filled with books, there was a vision to create a place where knowledge could be shared, challenged, and celebrated.

For this episode of Thoughts For The Sole, I sit down with CLASS Bookstore founder David Landry for a conversation that moves far beyond books.

We explore the origins of CLASS, the intention behind its carefully curated collection, and why a bookstore can become just as influential to a city as a sneaker boutique, an art gallery, or a neighborhood barbershop. We discuss how literature, hip hop, sneakers, art, and community all shape one another, and why preserving culture begins with preserving stories.

David also shares some of the sneakers that have defined different chapters of his life, proving that the shoes we wear often carry memories just as powerful as the books we read. Along the way, he opens up about the books that have influenced his thinking, challenged his perspective, and helped shape the mission behind CLASS.
